Mediated information has been an integral
part to the life of young generation; its reach and influence
are unparalleled. Fairly speaking, media are as essential to
life for the youth; as sun, air and water. Unfortunately, “media
myth” created by mainstream media have stereotypically portrayed
youth as: pleasure indulging, self-centered, and problematic.
However, Fubon Cultural and Educational Foundation sees
neither youth problems nor problematic youth; except alienation
between youth and the world they will take part in. We firmly
believe that an open space should be provided to stimulate
genuine expression of young people. Young Voice Project invites
youth to move beyond their passive role as spectators to become
active collaborators and encourage young folks to shape content
and mission of the voice out platform.
FCEF thus has launched Young Voice Project in 2005 to
encourage teenagers to take action. In addition to Fubon Social Welfare Website,
Media See See e-Newsletter and Media Chat Radio Show,
FCEF has sponsored 20 student clubs every semester. We believe independent
thinking and judgment can be fostered through totally youth-created, youth-led,
and youth-focused voice-out activities; may it be an article, graphic design,
or multi-media creation. Eventually, young folks will master media
to express themselves.
In the process of formulating individual assessment and furthermore
self- expression through various media, we encourage young folks to take
interest in people and things happening around them. Fubon Young Voice
Award Contest launching in the 3rd quarter of 2005 will reward best
works completed with actual experience of exploration, research,
investigation, expression and documentation. Because only through
active involvement and original production of text, photography,
or video, young folks may break away from the existing role as a passive
receiver of media. Outstanding examples will be published in the Young Voice website.
Young Voice website is not only an open platform but also the ultimate destination
for youth culture and individual expression. |

Life of Taiwan youth seems to be fully occupied.
Young folks hardly can get away from textbooks and classes, part-time job
and pocket money, cram school and language course, on-line chat and video game,
extracurricular activities and student club, shopping and movie watching,
hang-out with pals and seek friendship with the opposite sex…etc.
If you are one of the youth populations, you may agree no matter how hard you spin,
you are still living in the same circle of unified standards, rules and rigidity.
Aping sedulously, everybody consciously gets in a rut to pursue the same prevalence.
Everyone is seeking identical achievement;
which is nothing more than: good academic credentials =fine job = big fortune=good life.
No wonders the mainstream media have labeled Taiwan youth with ”selfish,
indulging in material comfort and appearance, frail, hollow, unfit for challenge”. .
Is that what life is? Perpetual follow-suit of others footsteps?
What is the meaning of individual existence?
Is there any difference between oneself and others? When will you get tired of
“living inside a box”? The world is in fact much larger than one can imagine,
so long as one can leap the boundaries of status quo ante and subvert the old complacency.
Young Voice website invites you to go beyond self-restriction and voluntarily perceive the pulsation of life,
you will find that you needn't be consentaneous to the majority at all time.
You may extend the horizons of vision, only if you set your minds free.
You are obligated to allow young life be filled with originality and creativity!
Young folks, you should have something to say! Simply stand out and speak up!
Use media of any kind to express yourselves and reveal your viewpoints about people
and things surround you. Question is dare you to enlarge yourself? ? |

How to express personal mind?
How can one make others understand what’s inside of your heart?
Young folks need the most is audience. But too often communication gap is in the way;
alienation has then become prominent social phenomenon among young generation.
Constant frustration of self-expression results to communication disillusion.
Have you wondered why verbal language is the only tool for communication?
In Young Voice website; the domain of half-grown-up, everyone shall speak up rightly.
We encompass all kinds of attitude: cool, hot, lively, alternative, irreverent,
unrepressed, naughtiness, irrational, sophisticated and innocent.
The music genius and ultimate youth idol:
Jay Tsou may come across miscommunication sometimes.
To Jay, limitation of communication is only bounded by creativity and determination.
Bestowed with unique creative style, he simply lifts paintbrush, raises camera,
or picks up video, then he may channel his viewpoints via unique personal syntax to the others.
In this way, he best demonstrates that intention is the only distance between all creatures! |
